Core Rules of Netiquette

The title above is that of a publication which highlights many of the steps one should take when using the internet. I think this is very interesting and it ought to be applied to the topic of my study; and it should be included here as an essential part of my ongoing study on Virtual Friendships.

  1. The rule I find most interesting is Rule #5: "Make yourself look good online." In summary, they asked you to make sure that you write proper and spell check so that you "sound good." The ability to spell check, check you facts and answers before responding to a message or a comment, gives people a false perception of who you really are. So if your virtual friendships are based on a false perception, how can you expect to have a successful relationship with the person? All of these rules/"netiquettes" are interesting.
